Information on wikipedia can be provided by anyone, thus there is a possibility that the information is 'fake'. There are editors that check wikipedia to ensure information provided is correct, however there is still the possibility that it isn't. Thus, I recommend that if you are gathering any information from wikipedia, then you should check in books or other websites to validate it (check if it is 'fake' or not).

To my knowledge, WikiAnswers has never given out any false info.

The people from across the nation (and world) can make mistakes in their answers, or simply be mean and nasty and give nasty answers or deliberately wrong answers.

A lot of WikiAnswer Supervisors and other people who contribute try their best to correct the bad answers, but there are sometimes 15 to 20 questions coming in PER SECOND, so all the wrong anwers just cannot be corrected by a limited number of answerers.

Why is information that is found on the internet not always reliable?

Many people have access to the internet, so a lot of people put information up. People have different opinions on things, so they may put up different information on the same subject. Some people put up information believing it to be correct, but they are wrong. Some people deliberately put up misleading information. Sometimes information is missing some important components, so what is there is not completely accurate. So if you are looking for information, you should check a number of different sources to help get a good idea of what is actually correct.

Does Wikipedia tell lies?

Wikipedia is based on contributions from the public. Some sections are better controlled than others, but be sure to confirm information by checking the reference list and other sources. Writing "Wikipedia" as a reference when producing school papers or anything remotely scientific is generally not very well accepted.

Is Wikipedia is a bad site to go to?

There is no question that the quality of content on Wikipedia is poor, especially when compared to a publication like Britannica. Wikipedia is not exactly "bad" because it usually has reliable information on it, however most schools do not allow students to use Wikipedia in research because anyone is allowed to contribute to Wikipedia, and they could put false information on..

What are some unreliable source?
