I am not sure and am having the same problem
Your gag reflexes should not be affected by having your tonsils removed.
This is the the medical term for having your tonsils removed.
I think it is called tonsillectomy I heard it on a cartoon
I was off for a month after having mine removed in 1999 aged 29.
Ask your doctor - not an anonymous web-site !
I have gotten my tonsils removed and yes you can still get strep throat. Although you get it not as easy and it will not be as much of a miserable experience. As you could imagine not having tonsils that also swell up. Plus you get to chill in a hospital and eat ice cream... Now that is bomb.
Yes because the tonsils will suport that
No, they are just less likely to become inflamed having to be removed.
It may surprise you to know this, but people of all ages are usually scared/nervous about upcoming surgeries. Reassure yourself that what you are having done are very simple procedures and occur every day with no problems. Good luck tomorrow.
No and why would it i got my tonsils removes and I'm not fat
If they are causing you a tremendous amount of recurring pain and the infections dont clear up well with anti-biotics then see your GP and discuss having them removed. I have had mine removed and It doesnt hurt too much. You get to eat plenty of Ice Cream!
Any irritation to the throat, bronchial tubes or lungs can cause a cough. Having your tonsils removed definitely irritates your throat and can cause a cough. However, to know for sure what is causing the cough and to find out if the cough could cause a problem after the recent tonsillectomy (such as trigger bleeding), it would be good to contact the surgeon who removed your tonsils and report the cough for them to determine what, if any, treatment you may need.
