This may come as a shock to you, but the US Navy SEALs are under the Navy and not the Marine Corps
No you cannot do that. The Navy SEALs is just that, the NAVY. You would have to finish your enlistment in the Marine Corps and then join the Navy.
well there are alot of former marines in the seals program yes
Marines are not on par with the Seals. Marines are a regular force, seals are special operations. A more likely match would be Marine Recon Vs Seal
Marines
Obviously SEALs. Marines aren't Special Forces. SEALs are Tier 1(DEVGRU), Tier 2 and kinda Tier 3.
None. Navy Seals are all Navy. Marines are a completely different branch of military.
Snipers have their own training program, in all branches. For a sniper serving in a special operations unit, such as the Army Rangers or Special Forces, Marine MARSOC, Navy SEALs, et. al, they will also have to undergo that training, as well.
Seals are basically expected to become experts in the use of small arms and explosives. However before you can begin the real SEALs training you have to pass BUDS (Basic Underwater Demolition / SEAL) at the Navy Special Warfare Center in Coronado,CA. If you happen to survive that it's 7 weeks of fitness training, 8 weeks of diving training, 9 weeks of Land Warfare Training and 3 weeks of basic parachute training. The SEALS are a US Navy unit. The Marines have their own special forces, Recon. They may cross train, but they have different missions and skill sets.
The USMC is currently the most difficult to get into. USMC basic training is arguably the hardest boot camp of all branches. Sorry dude, but SEAL training is ridiculously hard, and even though Marines definitely train like hell, SEALs take the cake. Also, surprisingly few people are actually kicked out SEAL training, the vast majority D.O.R. (drop on request) cause it's too hard. SEAL training is SPECIAL FORCES. Look at the answer: toughest BOOT CAMP (BASIC). No doubt SEAL training is the toughest but, for basic the CORPS is the toughest, even SEALS have to go through BASIC. I agree. The Marine boot camp is the toughest. *Comment from personal experiance. ;)
A MARINE... you are comparing apples and oranges, marines (regular marines) have 15 hours of just hand to hand combat however MARSOC marine spec ops is the equivalent of navy seals but still have more hand to hand then a SEAL in their training.
