If the Big Bang theory is correct, it took place everywhere, it's just that "everywhere" was a lot smaller then.
It doesn't really make sense to point and say "over there" since "right here" was part of it as well. We see very nearly the same microwave background anywhere we look in the sky, so it really looks like it was everywhere all at once.
the scientists believe the big bang took place is northeast
everything happened in the same place. there is the big bang. to the northeast is also this big bang. so everything was in one place and the big bang was in the only place there was a place.
the big bang
If the Big Bang never took place, the universe as we know it would not exist. The universe began as a singularity and expanded rapidly from that point. Without this event, there would be no galaxies, stars, planets, or life as we know it.
According to the best evidence available, the origin of our universe, often called the Big Bang, took place 13.7 Billion years ago.
The Big Bang is estimated to have occurred around 13.8 billion years ago, at the beginning of the universe's expansion. It is not directly associated with any specific century, as it took place long before the concept of centuries existed.

Big Bang Theory
We have no idea what, if anything, existed before the Big Bang, or even if the concept of "before" has any meaning in this context.
We have no idea what it was that exploded in the Big Bang, but it probably was NOT "matter" in the sense that we think of now.
The person that can provide the definitive answer is likely to win a Noble Prize for physics. No one can realy explain it at this point.
