Well I think all punishment decreases crime rates but I think the death penalty decreases the most amount of crime. However, it remains extremely difficult to show a relationship between crime rates and the death penalty, and it's questionable whether a criminal that would be willing commit a crime that is punishable by life in prison would be deterred by a possible death penalty. The stakes are so high in both cases that the punishment likely isn't a determinate on whether the criminal will proceed.
my question for you a gay do you agree or not agree the death penalty and why
Depends on what you did. I honestly think that if you raped or killed someone, the death penalty wouldn't be too harsh. i agree with this how would you like it if someone killed your brother or something you would want pay back i kno i would
Public opinion on the death penalty and the concept of "an eye for an eye" varies widely by region, culture, and individual beliefs. In the United States, surveys indicate that support for the death penalty remains around 55-60%, with a portion of that group likely subscribing to retributive justice principles. Globally, attitudes differ significantly; some countries embrace the death penalty while others have abolished it entirely. Ultimately, quantifying specific agreement with the "eye for an eye" philosophy requires nuanced survey data that separates these beliefs from general death penalty support.

talk about how it might be fair or unfair according to the crime. ex. some people say an eye for an eye but others just get a couple years and rehab. wats the deal? murder is murder.... give your own opinion and insight about what you think about a death penalty and if you agree with it or something along those lines.
I agree with the death penalty 100% . I also agree that until a person is totally proven to be guilty ,no.Additional: (in the US) Apparently the majority of the electorate in 37 states of the country that still have the death penalty. In a 2010 Gallup poll, it was found that 64% of the population support the death penalty for murder, while 29% oppose it. Overall, support has been slowly declining.
That's up to personal opinion. The death penalty is not meant to be a deterrent to the general population, but rather a specific deterrent (i.e. the person who is executed will never kill someone again). What many people don't realize is how many prisoners and prison employees are killed by convicted criminals, which is why I personally believe the death penalty serves an important purpose (saves lives).
There are but two answers to this question: # Yes # No Everyone is going to have a difference of opinion on this topic and we can agree that we will disagree. Question is more suited for debate as opposed to a general interest subject.
Biographers agree that the cause of his death is not known.
The appeals system is a little complicated, but essentially: the person who has received the death penalty would need to appeal to the Supreme Court and then the Supreme Court would have to grant a writ of certiorari. The "complicated" part comes from the fact that it would have been appealed to lower courts (the state Supreme Court, or a Circuit Court of Appeals) before the US Supreme Court would agree to hear the appeal.
The jury doesn't dictate the penalty (or sentence) - The Judge decides on the sentence - based on the severity of the crime, the defendant's previous record, and any other mitigating circumstances (such as mental state etc).
