Yes definitely. Communication has become very easy now, and is very cheap.
It allows the access to and sharing of culture, ideas, knowledge, news, etc., etc.
However the availability to the public can also be a bad thing. There is loss of exercise, people meet face to face much less often. Often times the knowledge expressed can be incorrect or sewed (take note, sites like this one can be manipulated by ANYONE). Even things as bad as viruses and pornography are all over the internet. So one must be cautious when treading the internet.
The internet is a mixed blessing, like any new thing. People just have to be wise.
Some do and others do not. Often, though, it takes time for a technological development to be tested and used before it triggers a turning point.
