When is a Yahrzeit the first observed if the burial occurred days after the death?

Yahrzeit (literally "Time of the Year" and connotatively "anniversary") is the anniversary of the death, not the burial. So the first yahrzeit would be observed on the first anniversary of the date of death. However, some authorities rule that if the burial takes place more than three days after death (the day of death being considered day one) that the first yahrzeit take place on the day of burial.

You burnt a yellow candle a blue candle a green candle a black candle a white candle and a red candle and the blue burnt the fastest why is that?

Working at a 100 year old Candle Company, ColonialCandle.com, I asked the candle making team of experts. When we have done this experiment using taper candles, the white candle should burn the fastest as there are no colorants to impede the capillary action of the wax through the wick. That is making sure that all things are equal in the candle make up such as wick, and wax. Unless of course , the white candle has an optical bleach in it to have the illusion of being more white. The optical bleach is a pigment and would cause the rate of consumption to be less. Only thing to add is a darker candle can sometimes burn faster because a dark color holds more heat and can cause the candle to burn slightly faster. But your point of all things being equal is the most important factor.

Does temperature affect how fast a candle will burn?

Yes. My 7 year old did this as a science experiment. He used 3 pilliar candles, left one on the counter, put one in the fridge, and one in the freezer - all for 24 hrs. He then lit them and let them burn for 3 hours, checking every 30min. At the end of the 3 hours, the one left on the counter was burned down a lot, the one in the fridg, not as far and the one from the freezer was hardly melted at all.

Is the Paschal mystery?

The paschal (Easter) mystery is the death and resurrection of Jesus. The Paschal candle is a large, white candle used liturgically in the Western Rites of Christianity (Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, etc.). A new Paschal candle is blessed and lit every year at Easter, and is used throughout the Paschal season and then throughout the year on special occasions, such as baptisms and funerals.

Which candle would burn faster a light green one or a light pink one?

This is an old joke. The answer is "Neither--All candles burn shorter." I'm locking this and moving it to the joke/riddle section. === the long thin pink one. ~Not necessarily, it depends on what type of wax is used, the thickness of the wick, and the amount of wind the candle is exposed to. The green square candle will out burn the other two. The long pink candle will burn the fastest. The green square candle. If you think about it, it all depends on the height of the green square candle, exactly how thin the long thin pink candle is, the length of the long thin pink candle, how fat the short fat red candle is, how square the green square candle is, and the time of the year. It also depends on the stuff that the person who put a ~ before their answer said.

What is the definition of yahrzeit?

The word means "year's time" and refers to the anniversary of a death. Jewish tradition asks close relatives of the deceased to say the Mourner's Kaddish on the anniversary of death every year. To say the Kaddish, you need a minyan, 10 adult Jews. Knowledgeable Jews sometimes actually lead the yartzeit service in honor of the person they are mourning.
