Most of the Hispanic/Latino community in Utah is from Mexico, but many also come from Central and South America.
"Latino" is a broad, inclusive term used to refer to people with cultural or historical ties to Latin America. "Chicano" specifically refers to people of Mexican descent living in the United States, particularly those who identify with their Mexican heritage and the Chicano civil rights movement. Chicano tends to have a more political and cultural connotation, while Latino is a more general term encompassing multiple Latin American backgrounds.
Latino is a term for people from Latin America; which does not include Italians. WRONG!!! Latino is considered anybody whose language is based in Latin. Like ppl from: Spain, France, Portugal, Italy and many others. A lot of ppl get Hispanic and Latino mixed up. Hispanic is considered anyone who was impacted by the Spaniards' conquer, like countries from south-America, (but Brazil and Guyana), Central-America, Mexico and most of the Caribbean Islands..So u can be Latino but not Hispanic..=) but most Hispanics would consider latinos only people who are mixed with Indian and spaniard ancestry. So in the eyes of us "Hispanics" Italians, haitians and especially french people are not latinos.
Hispanic men refers to men who are of Hispanic or Latino descent, meaning they have origins in countries where Spanish is spoken, such as Spain or Latin American countries like Mexico, Colombia, or Argentina. This term encompasses men who identify with Hispanic culture and may have cultural, linguistic, and historical ties to these regions.
Al Pacino is an Italian American actor. To answer the question, he would be Latino, but not Hispanic, a Hispanic can be Latino, but not all Latinos are Hispanic. Hispanic means someone who has been raised into the Hispanic culture, which is the culture Latin Americans inherited from Spain. However, the term Latino is broader and includes all people descending from the Roman empire's culture, that is Italians, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian. Now, from all these countries, the people they conquered and colonized inherited their culture, and therefore became Latinos themselves. Most of the colonies of the above countries were established in Latin America, to include Hispanic countries, such as Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Chile, et cetera, and Portuguese countries such as Brazil and Angola. Finally, when you refer to a Latino, he could be of Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Romanian, but when you refer to a Hispanic person, he or she, is descendant from Spain, not any other Latino country, just Spain. Note: Brazilians are Latinos, but they are not Hispanic, they are Portuguese.
