You almost never check the A/T fluid with the transmission in gear. Check your owner's manual or look on the dipstick. If you have no owner's manual or it is not listed on the dip stick, call your local Ford dealer. Overfilling the transmission is a sure way to cause damage. You must check the fluid the correct way.
manual tranny's take gear oil not tranny fluid. you need to get all that fluid out and fill the tranny with 80/90 weight gear oil

When was the lasttime you checked your tranny fluid? You might have fried your tranny.
if its auto check the fluid, linkage, or take it to the shop and have em take it apart the tranny

Sounds like the tranny. Check the transmission fluid level and the color of the fluid.
it should be checked or added with every oil change. You will need gear oil for a manual tranny. you will find the plug somewhere on the tranny.
change the fluid and filter and see what that does. It could be tranny fluid, or your tranny may be screwed.
You most likely have low tranny fluid. Check and add proper type & amount of fluid.
