Depends what time in the island you are in. First you need the gold pan to get a gold nugget to give to the medicine man, then you swap the gold pan for oil can, which you need to fix the clock tower.

∙ 10y agoYou pan for gold after you get the claim map. You get it from the Casino in Dos Cactos by playing Slapjack.
Go to the location on the map (where the rivers meet) and dip the pan at the shiny spots. Slosh away the sand to reveal the gold. Eventually you will find a nugget.
