Do you cross the nile by ferry to get from luxor to the valley of the kings?

That is by far the cheapest way to get across. You can also take a taxi some kilometers up stream and drive across the bridge. Locals also offer their motor boats if you are willing to spend a bit more. The ferry is, however, really cheap and it is easy to get a taxi on the west bank.
