Boston Ratifies Two-Year Extension Agreement
On July 2, 2009, the musicians of the Boston Symphony ratified a two-year agreement that extends the terms of the agreement that expires on August 23, 2009 for two years and runs from August 24, 2009 and continues through August 28, 2011.
LENGTH OF SEASON: Remains at 52 weeks (53 weeks during the 2009-10 season)
WAGES: [2008-09] 2009-10 2010-11 Annual Salary [$128,180] $130,645 $128,180 Weekly Salary [$2,465] $2,465 $2,465 PENSION* [$75,000] $75,000 $75,000 *any player retiring during this two year agreement shall receive any increases negotiated for the 2011-12 contract year.PER DIEM: The Tanglewood per diem rate which was formerly tied to GSA rates has been reduced to $136 per day.
AUDITIONS: Audition language was clarified to allow only Players involved in auditions to be present at auditions, increases committee size, implements a policy for audition committee alternates, clarifies voting procedures, allows for a second day of preliminary auditions, and establishes procedures for finals with and without Music Director participation.
MISCELLANEOUS: Management agrees to meet regularly with the Players' Committee to discuss in detail a way to achieve a sustainable path for the future, including programming, scheduling, marketing, and the sharing of income and operating expense reports.
