No, usually a scraping sound indicates the starter is dragging and needs to be replaced.
Your neutral safety switch-try putting car in neutral and trying it
Did you put the small solenoid wire on the correct small terminal?
Sounds like a bad ignition switch. It could also be a bad starter solenoid. If you can find the solenoid you can unplug one of the small wires while it is trying to crank over and see if it stops. If it does it is probably the switch. If it doesn't then it is probably the solenoid.
Look for loose connections at the battery, starter solenoid, starter and switch. If all connections are good, the starter solenoid probably needs to be replaced.
check solenoid switch, starter cable will be hooked to it near battery
After thinking about this a bit it has to be on the starter, which is on the lower left side of the engine. I was trying to confuse this with the starter relay which Ford has long mounted up on the fender and makes things easy to locate starting problems. The solenoid is located inside the starter.
If your solenoid is bad on your atv raptor it will just click when trying to start it
Weak battery? Loose or corroded battery cable? Bad neutral or clutch safety switch? Bad ignition switch?
I would suspect the ignition switch has failed. This is the ignition switch not the tumbler assembly that you insert the key in.
sounds like you have a bad ignition switch or a bad starter solenoid
Engine seized? Bad starter? Bad starter solenoid? Dirty or loose battery cables? Bad neutral switch?
Start with the basics. Is the battery fully charged? Are the battery post clean and tight. If you answer yes to both of these and the engine will not turn over and you hear nothing, suspect the starter, starter solenoid, or ignition switch is defective.
