Not necessarily. Most of the time, breath odor is caused by problems in the mouth (halitosis, dental diseases, pharyngitis, etc). A couple of exceptions are diabetics with ketosis and those who drink alcohol.
That said, certain types of pneumonia, such as those caused by anaerobic bacteria, or those caused by aspiration of stomach contents can cause a foul odor. Another cause of bad breath may be that the person with pneumonia has not felt well enough to brush his/her teeth in the past few days.

∙ 14y agoI did. When I had it, a significant amount of blood was produced whenever I blew my nose or sneezed. Pneumonia symptoms can vary greatly though, and it is nothing to fool around with. If you think you may have it, go to the doc and insist on a chest X-ray. Better safe than sorry.
