A Torx wrench is a different kind of wrench for special Torx screws. Same principle as Allen or Bristol wrench. Torx is designed so you can get more torque on the screw.

You need a torx type socket. If you use an Allen wrench...you will strip out the inside of the bolt.
On my '93 Mercury Villager is a T40 Torx it should be the same on your '96 Quest.
You need a "Torx" wrench - Size 10. 1) You remove the knob by pulling it striaght towards you. 2) In the 6 o'clock position (right underneath the remaining knob), there's a slot for the Torx wrench 3) Put the wrench in and turn counter-clockwise and the radio just pops out 4) Slide out and you're done
