Well, i go to Dr. Penna orthodontics in Salisbury NC. and they told me that they take x rays, and they get a model of your teeth. they then send it to Raleigh for like 3-6 weeks. Raleigh has to approve of you to get braces. they base it on a 0-10 scale. you have to get a 3-3.6 in order to get approved of braces.
