It is easy to contact the refund team online. Go to the website, choose the option for help, then opt for returns and refunds. There, you will have the option to contact Toys R Us, they will send you and authorisation code, so you can send the faulty item back to the shop. Alternatively, you can bring the toy back to the shop and get a full refund straight away.

Yes, i tried returning a faulty item to the shop. The manageress said its the manufacturers fault and when i mentioned the Sales of Goods Act she told me to leave and dont come back. I contacted customer services they told me to send the item to them. I did and they stated they would refund it but that was five mnths ago. Their company secretary refuses to refund me.
It depends on the laws in your country. Here in the UK - we are protected by the 'distance selling regulations'. Put simply - we have exactly the same rights as if we'd walked into a shop and bought something in person. Normally - if you're paid for something with a credit card - you're covered by their insurance. The card company should investigate for you - and refund your money.
It depends what shop it is. Some shops will let you off, but others won't. You usually need the receipt for a refund, though.
