Most new lead acid batteries are shipped dry and need to be filled with electrolyte and charged before installation. See http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150334 for complete instructions. Newer sealed batteries are shipped with a partial charge but need to be "topped off" prior to installation. If a new battery has sufficient charge to start the vehicle, the vehicle's alternator (or generator) will top off the charge over time.

Check fuses.
You will need a smaller battery charger and u can access the battery posts on each side.(- on leftside of bike just above the rectifier) (+ is under small plastic cover just under swing arm on right side of bike)
the 1400 intruder didnt come out till 1987. nevertheless its at the back of the engine right near the battery box.

The battery box has a bottom hinge. Just remove the 2-10mm bolts, 1 on each side, and slide the battery out the bottom.
Suzuki 1500 intruder has 1464 cc engine.
on the bottom of the motorcycle a door open to drop the battery down. loosen the bolt on the side ...but be careful the battery will drop down .
