Coagulation studies-Prothrombin Time (PT), Coumadin therapy, Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT, PTT), Thrombin Time (TT) Vleeding time (BT)
A PT INR test would be used if someone is suspected of having bleeding problems. It is also used to check or diagnose blood related problems (blood clotting).
No, rigor happens within about 3-6 hrs levidity happens about 8hrs after death. It's when the blood pools up under the pt.

Platinum, Pt, is a catalyst used to promote the reaction. Without the Pt, the reaction is very very slow or does not occur. Platinum is a true catalyst and is not part of the reaction. The catalytic converter in automobiles is an example. The platinum is not consumed, but promotes the breakdown of harmful gases in exhaust to less harmful gasses.
Prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT) tests are used to evaluate the extrinsic coagulation system
Prothrombin time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT) are tests that are used to evaluate the extrinsic coagulation system.
There are a few tests used to measure blood's coagulability. PT is prothrombin time, PTT is partial thromboplastin time, the INR is the international normalized ratio.

Patients with low levels of fibrinogen have prolonged PTT in most cases.
push to talk In medical settings PTT stands for partial thromboplastin time, and is a measurement of how long it takes the blood to clot.

If the GI problem is a GI bleed, then a CBC, PT, PTT are performed. Following those blood tests (which may indicate that a blood transfusion is needed - especially if the hemoglobin level is below 8.0) endoscopic exam of the esophagus, stomach and small intestine is usually performed 9in order to determine the possible site or sites of bleeding. If a rectal bleed is occurring, then a colonoscopy would be warranted. If a nutritional deficiency is suspected, vitamin B12 and folate levels should be obtained, among other tests.
Not likely. Bruising can be caused by abnormal clotting factors. PT and PTT can be measured and if they are nl then the bruising is probably not related to the Ritalin. It would be highly unlikely for Ritalin to affect the PT or PTT. Actually, Ritalin does cause bruising. This is a rare but serious side effect and you should stop taking the drug immediately and contact your doctor. The PT and PTT may show up normal but once the Ritalin is discontinued, the bruising typically stops.
