No, you don't have to go to TAFE (Technical and Further Education) to
become a Chef. TAFE colleges generally often a qualification which is something
less than a bachelor's degree. While this will probably gain you a job and experience, In my opinion, TAFE training will not make you a professional Chef.
There are many culinary arts schools all around the world. The really
good ones are expensive. Their curriculums are extensive and demanding.
If you complete one of those schools, you will have earned the title Chef.
I've had the privilege to work with some professionally trained chefs. I've
also had the dubious honor of working with cooks who assume the title of Chef.
There is a world of difference.

Well, I don't know where you from. But where I live AUS, you can do that by going to tafe. Or just become a nurse by doing a tafe course as well or a a Uni(College) degree which takes you 3 years to complete.
