Depends what kind of caregiver you would like to be:

ECE - Early Childhood Education

DSW- Disabled Support Worker

PSW- Personal Support Worker (also known as Healthcare Aide Worker)

Those are just a few to mention and each has varying lengths of education.

Employment as a Nursing Assistant, the primary hands-on caregiver of basic activities of daily living, (e.g., bathing, dressing, feeding, etc.) and some more technical extensions of those services, often after additional training, usually requires a State CNA certification (Certified Nursing Assistant). There are some positions with some employers that will accept experience without the certification or that will hire, train, and then pay for your certification required studies and support your education and certification with expectation that you will continue to work with them after the certification is achieved.

NO, you do not need "some kind of certicicate" there is no law against baby siting with out one. HOWEVER! parents feel alot more comfortable knowing that A. you are certified and B. you actually have expeirance with kids and know what your doing.
