It needs a shelter from bad weather, not to provide this would be animal abuse.

A dog that lives out side should have a fenced area, to keep pet from leaving, having other dogs attack yours, so it can move around with out something on its neck.

Should have food and water protected from bugs and birds

Should have a house to go into that is near your house and it can watch the door of your house from inside its house. ( they are pack animals and want to be with you. So it will watch for you to come home or outside so it can see you. They like to potty far away from where they sleep and eat) This dog house should be off the ground, large enough to stretch out in and the rain can not get in as well as the sun will not over heat it!

IF you want you can build a shelter(house) with no floor and add shavings to the floor, this makes a comfortable place. Make it big enough that the dog can play and see you, this way if you have to put the dog up because of mowing the lawn or workers are over, the dog is in a happy place and not upset. Be sure to clean out the shavings and or add when needed, keep it dry in there. :)

Yup, no matter where you live. If it's hot and sunny all the time, they need a shady place to go. If it rains, they need to be able to get out of it, just like other animals. If it snows DEFINATELY yes. Dogs have a fur coat, but that doesn't mean they can stay out all winter without shelter. Dog houses dont have to be expensive, but if you're in a really hot or really cold area you might want to add some insulation. If it's a working dog on a farm or something, just make sure it can get inside the barn if it needs to etc.

I would not advise it. Dogs need shelter from the weather and the heat. They are smaller than you so they will die easier than you.

Failing to provide adequate resources for your dog could be seen as cruelty by your local authority.
