You did not say what year. I have a YJ & the answer is no, but plan on getting your hands scratched up a little. Both side speakers can be accessed from below but it is a little tight- especially the driver's side with the E-brake linkage (which can be dropped to make it a little easier).
You first need to disconnect your battery cable, which will disengage your air bag system. You install the speakers in the side door panels.
if its like the 1993 which i think it is you need A torq take the front windshield down undo the screws under where the windshield sits that are holding the dashboard to the metal it should pop forward enough to change the speakers

According to the detail spec sheets from Crutchfield.com, the 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee contains four (4) to six (6) speakers. Both front doors and both back doors are said to contain 6-3/4" speakers. The two additional speakers if you have the six (6) speaker setup would be located in the dash near the windshield. These will be 2-1/2" tweeters.

If you are installing new hardware you must first uninstall all of the old Jeep soft top hardware. Remove the windshield retainers, tailgate bar, and the old bow assembly. If you are working with a YJ, you will also have to remove all the belt rails. On both sides of the Jeep, measure from the outer edge of the body to the top lip of the windshield. It should be 75 1/8 inches on both sides of the Jeep.
The speakers were all recalled due to a vibration in them. Take it to the Jeep dealership and they will replace all the speakers in the car at no charge.
