To get the most out of live you need a gold membership which costs fifty dollars a year, but it can be bought in three and one month memberships are available.

∙ 14y agoYou don't have yo pay every month for xbox live but you can,in other words you can pay for it monthly,or you can use your credit or bank card(don't trust Microsoft they only take whats needed but they take the money at random times).You can also go to the store and pay for a twelve month(49.99$)3 month(19.99)or a one month(3.99)(unless you buy with your credit card it is only 1.00)(one month card is no longer sold in stores in the areas in the Pennsylvania area.

∙ 10y agoFrom what I am aware of, you have to go to a store that sells the XBOX Live cards and that gives you a subscription of a month, 3-months, etc.
You can go on the xbox webpage to find out the month, three month, or year membership cost and even do credit card subscriptions there.

What is a monthly membership?
Monthly membership means paying monthly to continue a membership. For example the monthly membership fee of my Gym is 35$ - that means I must pay 35$ a month in order to keep my membership at my Gym. Another example is that I need to pay 15$ a month to keep on playing World of Warcraft because the monthly membership cost is 15$. Monthly Membership is NOT a one time payment - it is a payment that you must pay every month to keep the product. So if I were to buy an xbox360 for 499$ then that is considered a one time payment since I only need to pay for the xbox360 once. But to get Xbox live on my xbox360, I need to pay 5$ every single month for as long as I have xbox live. So If I had xbox live for 1 year I need to pay 5$ for how many months there are in a year - which is 12. 5x12 =60$, So I pay 60$ a year just to keep xbox live. If I were to stop paying monthly membership for Xbox live I would no longer be able to play xbox live but I also do not need to pay the 5$ a month.
