I have had that problem a few times before, still get it quiet often, for me what worked is reinstalling Counter Strike. Problem usually accures on Windows 7.
Counter Strike is older than Crossfire. Crossfire was released between 2007 and 2011 (depending on the country) while Counter Strike was released between 1999 and 2004 (depending on the platform). Although only a few people will tell you of this, I believe that Crossfire is the Asian replica of Counter Strike as both games share a strong similarity (for example, both games have terrorist and counter-terrorist players). Additionally, check your game settings and make sure you're playing in a mode that includes opponents, such as a deathmatch or competitive match. Lastly, verify that your game files are intact and consider restarting the game or your system if issues persist.

There are a few methods to move fast in Counter Strike. Make sure you are not wielding a rifle or a machine gun (since these weapons give you speed reduction) and hold a handgun or knife instead. In the earlier CS games, the Schmidt Scout provided a slight boost in speed (the normal default movement speed for players is 250 units per second and if the Scout is wielded, the players moves at 260). This is only possible if you are not zoomed in (then the player moves at only 220). Since the Schmidt Scout will not reappear in Counter Strike Global Offensive, it is uncertain if any of the new weapons will provide a speed boost.
