No each of the Call of Duty games follow a unique story line and do not need to be played in order to understand the story or characters. But if I had to recommend your first Call of Duty game I would say play Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare.

As long as they continue to break sales records with each new release they will try to meet the demand for new game versions for the Call of Duty series. The are already working on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and just released Call of Duty Black Ops on November 9 2010. Call of Duty Black Ops sold over a million more copies than Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 on it's release

Each Call of Duty 4 rar password is different. The password comes with your game and can only be used once.
Most of the Call of Duty games are set in World War 2, the only games to break this trend are Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which are (as evident by their names) set in modern times. (Note: I do not, and never have played Call of Duty, all information is based off of simple internet research, try it next time.)
