How do you replace the driver's side drive axle on a 2002 Ford Focus?

easy jobyou got to get the car up and take the tire off. There is a main nut right in the middle of the rotor. The socket you'll need is a 1 1/8m- 1 1/4mdepending on transmission. This nut is what holds the axle to the rotor. It is sometimes much easier to remove the nut holding the tie rod end, and ball joint nut, both are located right behind the rotor. The ball joint nut has a Allen key bolt and a 13m or 15m size nut. once these bolts are removed the rotor spindle assembly should be very open to play so you can pull on it to push the axle out of the rotor spindle assembly. from there you could pull the axle out of the tran. you may want to carefully pry the axle out from the trans. it is a good idea to replace th e axle seal located at the opening in the trans. its black. replacement is a the reverse. Always follow torque spec you can get this from any haynes manual. autozone.
