The Nissan Service Manual has a wiring diagram, look on e bay they can be bought there.
yes it will work. The only difference is that putting an auto harness on standard is you will have a few extra wires. They go to auto transmission sensors. if you can get the pcm too. it'll still read right but it'll be best to get the right one.

Remove the belt from your 1985 Nissan 300 alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. The alternator will come off.
It is a little black box attached to the door frame about 12 inches from the window switches towards the back of the car. You can see the wiring harness that attaches it to the switches.
try ebay, search 1985 300zx for the Nissan Service Manual, I have the 1986 manual , it contains the wiring diagram
remove the screws holding on the trim, remove the ashtray(should slide out) then remove the trim peice, then unscre the mounting bracket. Then unscrew the radio from the bracket and unplug the wiring harness.
