Gas stoves require that the pilot light is lit on the oven because otherwise it would just be leaking gas.

How do you light gas oven pilot?

a convection oven is really no different than a "normal" oven with the exception of a fan to circulate air to even out the temperature gradiant zones. As a result, the air blowing around is a little hotter than stagnant air. Set the temperature 25 degrees cooler than your recipe calls for.

Why would a gas stove have hot burners?

Gas ovens usually use one of the surface burners as an exhaust for the oven, therefore the surface burners (usually just one) get hot durng the use of the oven.

If one the burners of a gas oven is not emitting fire, when turned on, how would one go about fixing that and getting the burner to work?

Your pilot light is most likely gone out.You can relight it yourself though this can be DANGEROUS.Lift up your stovetop and see if you have all four pilot lights. If you do this is not the problem.Keep that burner off because natural gas can be deadly and call a pro to fix it.

How do you light an O'Keefe and Merritt stove?

You should be able to turn the knob and it should light. If it doesn't and it's very old, and you can hear gas flowing, you need to light it with a match when you turn the knob. If it's newer, then the pilot is probably out. You can light it by pushing the red safety button (usually in the left side storage compartment if it's a one-oven stove or under the top of the stove if two ovens) and putting a match to the pilot at the back top of the broiler for the oven and under the middle of the griddle for the burners. You may have to hold the button in for several seconds before it will stay lit.

What part of the gas stove or oven is toxic?

They are toxic if you turn on the gas and leave it on without lighting the burners. The gas that escapes is toxic and can be fatal if you breathe it for any length of time. You should always light the burners if you turn on the gas.

Can you change a 110 stove to 220?

Not easily. It's a lot like changing a Ford to a Chevy ... the only thing you can keep is the body. You can run the stove on 110 just as it is, but the burners will only get 1/4 as hot, and if it has anything on it besides burners and an oven, none of the other things will work.
