I am not aware (and neither is the NRA), of ANY state that requires the registration of long guns. UNLESS - The length of the barrel is modified to less than 18 inches and/or the total length of the weapon has been modified to be less than 26 inches. Under those circumstances, you would have to register it with the ATF Tand possess a federal firearms license to possess it.
