cost less in the long run. do the normal thing to be sure the car is worth the cost fo motor easy to tie up too much money like that i have done it before.

You must replace the block. You are better off replacing it with a long block rather than a short block because it is a lot less labor and inconvenience.

But you can replace the entire engine with a good used engine for $900-1200 plus labor. It is cheaper to get this car back on the road running than it is to buy another car, if the rest of the car is in good shape.
