Do you have to turn off the Nintendo DS at the end of each use or can you just close it and leave it on for days until you decide to put in a different game?

You can just close your DS which is known as putting it into "sleep mode". You should be aware though that this doesn'tsave your battery and you will most likely need to plug it in to charge after the few days.
