if i were you i would leave the light on during the day and turn the light off when you go to bed. This reason is during the day, like in the wild the sun which in this case is the light warms up the water, and then at night when the sun goes down the water cools off!
Definatly no! The fishes won´t have a day night rhythm and the algae will raise like hell in your fish tank. Not to mention as well the stress your fish will go through and thus make make them acceptable of attaining disease and parasites such as the deadly Ich.
I think it would be OK to leave the lights off if the room has plenty of natural daylight. If it does not have good natural daylight, I would leave the lights on. That is of course only if you are only going to be away for a weekend. If you are going to be away for longer maybe an electronic timer switch could be installed.
The best thing to do is get a timer and set it for a 12 hour lighting period. i usually go with 7am to 7pm.
In a Bowl!
You can do one of three things. 1. Leave the pregnant fish alone in the main tank and just let the pregnancy happen. They baby fish will probably find hiding places themselves. 2. Get a breeding tank. Leave the pregnant fish in the main tank and then when you see a fry, net it, and put it in the breeding tank. 3. Get a breeding tank and put the pregnant fish in it and just leave it. Whenever the pregnancy is over, put the pregnant fish in the main tank but leave the fry in breeding tank.
The energy for the plants in a fish tank is supplied by Light.
if you can live with the smell
It is instinct for fish to hide from danger. It is normal for some fish to hide from the light.
yes i leave the lip on the lid on the tank because it will jump out \
Turn the light off or get a smarter fish.
that depends what you want to do with the tank if you want a planted tank then dont go with a LED light inless the plants are very hardy and dont require a lot of light. if its just for fish go with the LED light. i have a LED light on my fish tank and my fish are doing great. i dont have any plants but i might get some hardy, low light ones. LED also saves energy

Well, no but they are a lot better with them. For your fish, not for show, if you have gold fish, if you don't put a light in they will go silver. This is because of the lack of light.
if you have a tropical fish or a filtered tank than yes you do need a light
yeah. it can
