Simply cutting a tree wouldn't consume oxygen, other than what you'd use while breathing or the oxygen your chainsaw consumes. You would lose the potential to create oxygen that the tree would otherwise do.

The amount of oxygen generating capacity lost when a single tree is cut down is so small it is not worth calculating. Cutting down whole forests may have a significant impact on oxygen release, but the primary source of atmospheric oxygen is the ocean plants.

Why you should not cut trees?

Trees should only be cut down if they are replaced and replanted. They provide the earth with oxygen and take in carbon dioxide. Burning them also releases harmful gases and cutting down trees in some areas will cause desertification.

Why shouldn't trees be cut down?

Trees should not be cut down because we lose fresh air.

What changes result from cutting down old forests?

This will lessen the amount of fresh oxygen put in to the atmosphere, because when plants(trees, grass, phytoplankton) they are taking in carbon dioxide and then puting out fresh oxygen for animals and humans to breathe.

What will happen to the land when the trees are cut down?

the land will become lose and we can't grow more trees on that trees.

If you kill one tree how much oxygen are you killing?

All trees with green leaves (ie. that have chlorophyl in them) give out oxygen in the day during photosynthesis. Note: They don't actually make the oxygen. It already exists. Two atoms of oxygen are bonded with a carbon atom to make the carbon dioxide molecule which animals breathe out. Trees and plants breathe it in, keep the carbon for themselves, and breathe out the oxygen.

What good is coming from the rainforest?

This makes me wat to cry.Trees filter out the carbon dioxide in the air, and give us more oxygen to breathe in.The tropical rain forest has most of the trees on earth and if we cut them down, we lose our oxygen, got it?

What is a main impact of deforestation?

The main impact is losing oxygen because that's what the trees provide us with and then the animals that live in trees lose their homes.

How does cutting down trees affect insects?

trees give you air but people are cutting down them as we get paper we lose air and lots of trees are dying

What will happen if you cut trees excessively?

Cutting down trees can cause animals to lose their homes. We also need trees to clean the air so we can breathe in the air. The animals will also have no food to eat and the predator's population will increase.
