If your account is flagged for Wrath of the Lich King, but you did not buy Cataclysm, the game works as normal. However, you will not be able to make Goblin or Worgen characters, learn Archaeology, level above level 80 or access the Cataclysm zones. All content that existed prior to Cataclysm is still available to you, including the revamped Old World questlines and zones. These are available to all players regardless of which expansions they bought.

You cant play Wrath of the Lich King without the Burning Crusade. The only way to play blood elf or dranei is to buy Burning Crusade. You also wouldn't really be able to level your character from 60-70 without the leveling areas in the Burning Crusade.

Probably but Blizzard doesn't make expansion packs you can pick and choose from, WotLK (Wrath of the Lich King) requires that you have The Burning Crusade loaded: each expansion leads to the next. You should be able to just delete the directory that it is in. Either that or use the uninstall utility that is usually provided when you install it.

There are many differences. First of all, Wrath of the Lich King is an expansion to Burning Crusade so they raised the level cap from 70 to 80. The Burning crusade introduced new instances, and went from 40 man raids to 25 man raids and even smaller 10 man raids if one wished. Wrath of the Lich King offered these options as well, but with recycled material at first, while the Burning Crusade introduced new material, arenas and other ways to obtain epic comparable high grade gear. Wrath of the Lich King basically had all the same features as Burning Crusade, except with a higher level cap. One thing Wrath of the Lich King did include was some vehicle fights, and a major PvP stone to conquer the land called Wintergrasp. Now if you are asking graphics wise, most of it was also recycled. Since they recycled some of the instances, they also recycled the gear images and just changed colors. Therefore you should be able to run it with the same computer specifications.

Yes, if you have just a classic account, you can log into WoW. However you can not use and features from BC and Wrath. This includes making blood elf and dranei races and Death knights. you cannot access northrend or outlands, and you cannot level professions past classic wow standards. You will also not be able to level a character past 60.

When you purchase the basic game, that allows you to play up until level 70 (Vanilla and Burning Crusade expansion is combined), and access all the 1-60 zones in Azeroth and the Outland.
