no you just need to be in range of a wifi spot. but a memory stick can save your games and you can play where you left off in the game with out the game in it.

At pspiso, you can download isos and csos. You need a custom firmware to play them. (psp-hacks.com) After you get ur firmware, put the isos, or csos, in an iso folder on your memory stick
