All routers perform the same action. They allow you to hook up multipule computers, and also giving your network security. Many people debate between which routers work better, and which have more reliability, i would recommend researching online and find some reviews. Routers do not "power" computers. There is a technology called power over ethernet but it's generally used for network attached storage devices or routers rather than "computers."
A Cat 5(good) or Cat 6 (better) ethernet cable plugs into the router and the ethernet slot in the back of the PS3 for a wired internet connection.
First , you just connect to the ethernet on your modem. Then connect your pc to the LAN on the router. Then you are good to go. If you have a disk with it , Then you must install with that disk
like a modem but modern version between phone cable an computerAnswer:its not!... a router is an external device or hub separate to the computer for the above use and connections
You mean Ethernet? Buy an Ethernet cord and plug in to router. Doing this usually doesn't get good results any more, however, wireless works great. Just setup using instructions, but for best results, get someone from like best-buy or directv to do it for you.
On a good router, yes. Most of the cheaper ones require you to run a CD on each computer that connects to the router.
If you do have a wireless router on, you don't need any other computer to be on, say if you have a laptop downstairs, and a computer with the router upstairs, the computer can be off, but the router has to stay on, and you can access the internet using the laptop from downstairs, if you have a good enough signal. Hope this helps!
I should be able to help with this - but unfortunately I'm not quite following the question!! Could you rephrase and draw me a little verbal picture...the wording is confusing me a little. Thanks.
You should be able to buy one anywhere these sorts of parts are sold - computer stores in particular. Or, online stores sell them, too. A site called Instructables has directions to make them yourself if you want to go that far.
You can go back to the store where you purchased the computer and ask for a good quality USB Ethernet which is cheap or search in amazon.com for the cheap & top qualified USB Ethernet adapter.
I'm not an expert on the subject, but as far as I know you can connect to Xbox LIVE by: -Wireless -Ethernet Cable -ICS (Internet Connection Sharing, must have ethernet cable) I use ICS, and it works pretty well. For wireless, first you need to buy a wireless adapter (Available at all good retail shops), plug it in to the back off your Xbox and voila! The further away you are from your router/modem, the worse the connection will be. For ethernet cable connection, use the ethernet cable supplied with the Xbox. Again, plug one end into the Xbox, the other end into your router/modem, and voila! Your connection will usually be medium/good with an ethernet cable. If you are too far away from your router/modem, but close to your computer, use ICS. You need to plug one of the cable into the Xbox, and one end into your PC/laptop. Then, on your computer, go to Windows Help and Support, search "enabling ICS", then click "using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). Then, to the right, click "enabling ICS", and follow the on-screen instructions. I hope I have helped. Please message me back if it has worked =)
Sort of the same as the difference between a printing press, and the truck that delivers papers to homes. Ethernet is a good way to connect computers together in a local area network, or LAN, so they can communicate with each other or each connect to a separate computer or router. Internet is a good way to connect people to usable information.
... a wired one? The easiest way to form a computer network is to plug two computers into each other via an ethernet cable and share out their drives to one another. If you're wondering how to make a wireless network in simplest terms, then you need the following: A Wireless Router A Wireless Network Adapter (on all remote computers) Ethernet Cable (CAT-5 : usually comes with the router hardware) Follow the installation notes that come with the Wireless Router. The most reliable of which, in my opinion, are the Belkin or Linksys devices. As a general outline, you basically plug your DSL cable (or highspeed internet cable) into the router, then plug the router into a desktop system via ethernet cable, then power on the router. It's as simple as that, so far as installation goes. On the remote computers insure that a wireless network adapter is installed and in use and check to see if they're receiving the signal. . Remember that you can always check the manufacturer website for extra help with your wireless router and wireless network adapter devices. It can get tricky, depending on the security and applications that you want to utilize on the network, so having the manufacturer FAQ at hand is a good idea.
