No. Even with the new Western Hemisphere initiative effective June 1, 2009, travel directly from the US to a US territory does not require a passport.

∙ 16y agoWe are traveling to St. Thomas in March 2008. I called the National Passport Information Center to ask if we needed passports. The representative said you do NOT need a passport to travel any US territories including St. Thomas. NPIC 877-487-2778.

∙ 15y agoNo, a passport is not required because it is considered part of the u.s. territory, so basically you have not left the united states. Although it would be wise to have a passport anyway incase your flight gets diverted, or you decide to go on a boat off the island that could end up outside u.s. territory.
