no you do not need a tampon to go swimming. When you are in the water you stop bleeding, but when you get out make sure to put a pad/tampon on right away. hope this helped!!!

During your period you should definately wear a tampon while swimming. The blood might not be that visible when you're in the water but it's still coming out. Plus if you got out of the water and you weren't wearing a tampon it would get all over the floor x D. I'm a competitive swimmer ^ _ ^;

If it's your first time don't worry, only the bottom gets wet with water and the blood is absorbed by the top. A tiny bit might come through but not enough to see. The cotton string is strong enough to easily withstand water.

You wear a tampon and you keep the string that hangs out of in the bikini bottoms to keep it from showing while you're swimming and avoiding an embarrassing situation. Therefore, sometimes they have those pocket-like things in your underwear. If you have a long string try tucking it in there for a more secure assurance that it really isn't going to slip or to come out.

You can use any of the following to swim during your period:

  • Tampons
  • Soft tampons
  • Menstrual sponges
  • Menstrual cups
  • Diaphragms
  • Softcups

Menstrual cups are a better option than tampons as they're safer than tampons, this means that unlike tampons you can use cups when your flow is light, you can also leave tampons for up to 12 hours. Menstrual cups also don't absorb water, increase cramps, or leak like tampons can.

You can't go swimming in a public pool without using menstrual products listed above as blood and uterine tissue will get into the water - menstrual flow is no less hygienic than vaginal discharge, but no one wants to be swimming through your menstrual flow, and you don't want people seeing bleeding.

No, you don't wear a tampon in your swimsuit.

Tampons go into the vagina to stop blood from leaving your vagina - if you don't know how tampons work then you should not use them, you need to know how to use them correctly and understand health risks from tampon use. People can use tampons or options like menstrual cups to swim on their period, but external products cannot work in the water so no using pads at all.

You do NOT need to take out your tampon when you swim or go to the restroom. Doctors advise you not to wear them to bed because of the length of time you are asleep. I hope that helped!! If you sleep for more than 8 hours you should wear a pad instead. Otherwise it is ok to wear a tampon.
