No. If you have wireless and you have a built in Wifi Card, you will be able to connect to your wireless network without and cable connected to you computer. However if you have a DSL like Embarq which in not wireless you will have to connect a cord or buy a wifi card.
If you are trying this on a Desktop Computer you may need to have a wireless modem.

Usually wireless adapters can be connected to computers not to modems.
If you want to use internet wirelessly, yes you need a wireless router and a wireless adapter for your PC (usually laptops have it).

yes with an adapter
Of course, you can. You have to have a wireless router connected to a modem or directly to internet channel.
you will need to go buy a usb wireless adapter. this is what I have for my nonwireless computer. www.newegg.com
Computer > Network Adapter > Router > ISP > Internet
Some computers/laptops are wireless ready, so I would check the computer for a wireless adapter, before spending the money on a modem, provided you already have a wireless network already in place.
You should not have any problems doing that. Just make sure that they are compatible.
Why did you buy the wireless adapter if you use the Ethernet port? Just plug it in from your router to your (I call it) Crapbox360 and your done! Hope this helps.
