The answer is simply yes. Magic jack does not need this service nor does it use it to operate. However, you might need a regular phone or a cell phone to dial local numbers. Magic Jack now thinks that many local numbers are conference calls and requires that you to pay extra for that.
No, no existing phone line is needed, just internet service. the Magic Jack connects either to your modem or router, or to the USB port of your computer, depending on which type you purchase.
No. It is a VOIP service (voice over internet protocol). It needs to be connected to the internet to work. Actually, you need to have high speed to have high quality phone service.
sorry they wouldn't allow my first answer... Check out Magic Jack. Only draw back: you need to leave your computer on to get/send calls. Voice mails are stored whether your computer is on or not. Cannot beat the price for service except possibly with the the full Internet calling. We are Texas Telephone Line and are a consulting service, if you need services at your home for residential needs then you can contact AT&T for service, if you have DSL or other internet service then you might want to look at Vonage or Majic Jack, otherwise if this is a business line and data then we are able to assist in the need, you may email me with your options. We are located in downtown Houston. i agree magic jack is the way to go love it

call the phone company and ask for "measured use" service. If you have a computer with a broadband connection I would suggest looking into getting a Magic Jack. The Magic Jack is plugged into your computer and then the landline phone is plugged into the Magic Jack. $39.95 pays for your first whole year, and after that its only $19.95 once a year after that. Great product! Local and Long Distance calls are both free as well as Directory Assistance, Phone Number, Call Waiting and Caller ID. Unbeatable price, you just can't go wrong. Visit griffincommunication.com and request information. No land line needed.
