No. The lower age limit is 18; and the upper age limit is around 40.

Note: There are numerous non-Jewish battalions in the Israeli Army. Among the most decorated units are the Druze battaltions. There are also Circassians and Bedouins in the Israeli Army (both are Muslim groups).

What percentage of the Israel Defence Forces is Christian?

I don't know the exact percentage but very, very few are Christian. Only Jewish Israelis, Druze, and Circassian Muslims are required to serve, and only Jewish volunteers from foreign countries are accepted. All Christians serving in the Israeli Army are Arab Israeli citizens or from the very small Messianic Jewish population.

Does Israel require two years of service in the army?

GENERALLY, YES, but it is more complicated. For groups who are drafted, there is a two-year requirement of service for women and a three-year requirement of service for men. The groups that are drafted are: Israeli Jews (except the Ultra-Orthodox who have a number of exemptions), Israeli Druze Men, and Israeli Circassian Men. Israeli Bedouins, Palestinian Muslim Citizens of Israel, and Palestinian Christian Citizens of Israel are not required to serve. Many Israeli Bedouin Men have a tradition of service, but there is no draft for them. A number of Orthodox Jewish battalions are now forming in the Israeli Army because of insufficient numbers of exemptions and increasing patriotism in the Orthodox Jewish community. Increasingly, Palestinian Citizens of Israel are enlisting, but it remains very unpopular in Israel's ethnic Palestinian communities to serve in the Israeli Army. Additionally, a number of foreign Jews enlist in the Israeli Army. Regardless, any individual who enlists in the Israeli Army is held to the same two-year requirement of service for women and a three-year requirement of service for men.

Do Jewish Americans hold dual Israeli and American citizenship?

If you are Jewish and have moved or want to move to Israel through Aliyah, you can retain your US citizenship. If you are no Jewish and want to obtain Israeli citizenship by naturalization, you have to give up your American citizenship. * People who make Aliyah to Israel, are automatically granted full Israeli citizenship after residing there for one year. During that one year, they hold on to your American passport and give you an Israeli travel document (red coloured as oppose to the regular, blue coloured, national passport.)

How many druze soldiers are there in the Israeli Army and do they reach high ranks?

I do not have a specific number, but there are 102 000 druze in Israel. According to wikipedia, 83% of Druze males serve in the Israeli army. This is a higher number than jewish Israelis, so proportionally, there are more druze than jews in the IDF. The druze used to have it's own Druze unit, and often not reach high ranks like generals. Today, Druze soldiers are found in all units, including elite units and ranks such as major general. Again, the average druze rank is higher than the jewish rank in the Israeli army.

When did Israeli army invade Lebanon?

Can Arabs serve in the Israeli armed serves?

Yes, Israeli Arabs can served in the Israeli armed services. However, they are not required to do so, it's on a voluntary basis. Israeli Arab minorities like the Druze and the Circassians do have mandatory male service in the Israeli army. The Bedouins serve voluntarily, but have a relatively high service rate. It is ethnic Palestinians, especially ethnic Muslim Palestinians, who often do not serve in the Israeli Army. Many of them, especially in the older generation, see service in the Israeli Army as a betrayal of their ethnic Palestinian nature.

What is Israel's school system like?

Israel has three parallel school systems. In order to cater to the Orthodox Jewish and Arab-Israeli minorities, there are General Public Schools (for Israeli secular Jews), Orthodox Jewish Schools (for Orthodox Jewish Israelis), and Arab-Israeli schools. The difference between the General Public Schools and Arab-Israeli Schools is primarily the language of instruction: Hebrew vs. Arabic. The difference between the General Public Schools and the Orthodox Jewish Schools is primarily curricular: Modern European Style vs. Historic Jewish Religious Education. In terms of actual education by years, the system is relatively similar to the American system. There is pre-school, elementary school, middle school, and high school. There are also universities which Israelis will usually matriculate to after army service.
