It's needed if you want to play a game on it. But you can do lots of things without one on a ds. You can customize your ds, you can connect with friends and chat using pictochat, and you can even use ds download play to connect with a friend who has a ds card and play multi-player games with them.
If you have a micro SD, yes, it only reads normal SD's

Yes, but you will need either a USB dsi cord or an sd card adapter (unless you have a built-in sd card slot). I have never done this but I'm assuming that you can.
The M3i zero card an support 99% DS and DSi games on Nintendo system. the only limitation is the MicroSD card.
You need a flashcart such as R4. and A Microsd card.
Play Gameboy Advance Games (GBA ROMs) on Nintendo DSi with the help of a DS iPlayer card and DSi-GBA emulator. Download GBA games to microSD card
Nope, just a bog-standard SD card.

get a micro sd card and a micro sd card to sd card adapter. before you take a picture click sd card then take ur picture, take out adapter, take out micro sd card, stick it in ur fone. if you do not have a slot for a micro sd card, YOU FAIL AND YOU CAN NEVER "SEND PICTURES FROM THE NINTENDO DSi TO A CELL PHONE"!!!!!!!!!!!! (unless you get a different phone of course)
