Charging Your Car Battery
NO, it is not necessary or even recommended to disconnect the cables from your car battery before charging.
It is however very critical that you follow all o the charger instructions for connecting the charger to your battery, AND the instructions regarding setting the charger controls [if there are controls to allow different voltage and charge rates.
The only reason I can think of for disconnecting the battery cables is if you needed to remove the battery from the vehicle [as for example to take into your garage for charging].

this is what is says on apple.com FAQ;Question: Do I need to completely empty the battery before charging it, and does doing this prevent the so-called "memory effect"?Answer: You don't need to empty the battery before charging it. Lithium-based batteries, like those used in iPod, have none of the memory effects seen in nickel-based rechargeable batteries.
The alternator is over charging. you need to have the charging sytem checked.
No
It does no harm to disconnect the battery when working on a vehicle but in general no, you do not need to disconnect them to change a filter.
That indicates a charging problem, The battery light is designed to come on, if the voltage in your system falls below approx 11 volts. I would look for alternator loose wires, broken wires, and/or have the alternator tested. Be sure to disconnect the battery before doing ANY servicing. A bad voltage regulator inside the alternator could be a problem. If it were not charging the battery at all by now you would have gotten a dead battery. If the vehicle battery is also worn out or bad, you could be getting the same results, in which case you need to have your battery tested as well.
If you are recharging a battery you will need to input more power than you could draw from the battery after charging, as the charging process is not 100% efficient. Most of this excess power will be lost as heat during charging.
Generally the solution to these problems is don't disconnect the battery from the car. In order to change you battery you need to connect a small 12 volt battery to the terminals before you disconnect the car battery. It need not be a large battery since the drain will be minimal and the time short. A set of flashlight batteries works fine. Mercedes are particularily difficult because you loose the radio among other things if you disconnect the battery. You must get a dealer to reset it. This negates anything you save by installing your own battery. Note a battery charger also works.
Rechargeable batteries are generally stored and shipped with no charge. This allows for a longer battery life. Fully charging the battery the first time will give you the best results for maximum charge and battery life.
it wont work anymore. have it tested before replacing could be it is not being charged properly Most auto parts stores will test your battery and charging system for zip.
The battery inside the mouse will need periodically charging.
