Certainly, a stripdown to check for wear and damage. Hopefully the crank and con-rod bearings will be OK and at most you will need is shells.
this is never a good sign. when this happens it means your piston rings are shot and oils blowing by them. take out a few spark plugs and look for oil, if its pretty well soaked start saving up fora rebuild.
yes it is still good
If you buy the complete rebuild kit it will contain all replaceable parts you will need.
I just got an estimate of $2200 for a complete rebuild of my Camaro 5.7L / 305
90% of the time, you can get by with just pulling the main and idle jets out, cleaning and blowing through them to make sure they are not clogged. If that doesn't do it, click the link below and it will walk you through a complete carb rebuild.
if i remember correctly..white smoke should mean that your piston rings are leaking oil into the compression chamber...but it just depends on if you have it coming out of the exhaust or if it is just coming from under the car.....in that case you just have oil leaking on the exhaust. in the first case...its gonna mean a complete engine teardown and rebuild.
Depends on where you live and what is wrong with it. Expect to pay $2,000 for a complete rebuild.
Chop Cut Rebuild - 2004 Complete Disaster 5-9 was released on: USA: 27 September 2008
buy a haynes book there about 30 bucks. it has a complete tear down and rebuild of the entire car
Piston rings and/or (probably and) cylinder walls are damaged. Rebuild the engine.
The intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and head must be removed. This is a major repair. On a 26 year old vehicle you might as well do a complete engine rebuild once you remove the head. The vehicle may not be worth the cost of the repair.
