No, you don't. Paternity tests are generally performed by genetics labs, not physicians.
Yes its called a fetal cell/dna prenatal paternity test
Yes, but there is a chance that it may harm the baby. Yes, you can order a prenatal DNA paternity test.
A prenatal paternity test costs ar ound $500.00 depending on the lab used for the testing.
No. A doctor always need the patient's consent.
Yes but it's risky for the pregnancy. Prenatal testing involves risk and is discouraged for the sole reason of determining paternity because of an increased risk of miscarriage.
One admissible as evidence $400-$500 for a post natal, $800-$1000 for a prenatal test. see links
If you have an eight-week old baby but do not know who its father is, you'll need to have paternity testing performed to establish who is the father. A DNA sample is taken from the child as well as from each of the men with whom you had sexual relations. A laboratory will compare the samples to determine paternity. These tests would need to be conducted by a doctor, so you should go to your doctor and inquire about having the test performed. If you have trouble getting the men to cooperate, they can likely be compelled to provide a DNA sample through the family court system. In that case, go there for help. If you're talking about prenatal testing (e.g. 8 weeks of pregnancy), then that's a different story. There are a couple of prenatal paternity tests, but none to the best of my knowledge can be applied at 8 weeks. You would need to wait at least another month before any type of paternity test would be available. Again, consult with your doctor.
You cannot do a prenatal test at that stage of a pregnancy, however you can do a test the day the baby is born Andrea@DNA QLD
On the day you give birth == == You can perform a paternity test while your still carrying the baby. But this test does carry a risk of miscarriage so I would wait until the baby is born then do the test.
Absolutely! Its called a prenatal paternity test and it can be conducted after 8 weeks of pregnancy! This test can be done with the mother of the child and potential father of the child. This test is done with a simple blood test with the mother and a buccal test (cheek swab) with the potential father. Results are returned in 7 days from your lab. So, it is indeed possible to get a paternity test while you are pregnant.
see link below "Can you have a paternity test while you are pregnant?" But its a risky invasive process, better consult with your doctor.
If you didn't have a period between them, then yes, it is a good idea to get a paternity test.
