Definitely not. If you buy your dad's care you just give him the money, he puts the registration & insurance and you're done. I am pretty sure you have to pay a fee to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles when you put the license & registration to your name, but not sales tax.
In most all states the sales tax is collected by the MVD at the time of registration/titleling. (If through a dealer, the dealer collects it). It will be based on the sales price, or if they 5hink something is untrue about that, on a book value they use.
Most states have an exemption available, especially if there is some gifting involved, that would avoid it. Check...it will certainly require a few forms.
zero percent if bought from private party. %8 if from dealer or business.
If I live in Kansa but buy a car from a private party in Texas, how is sales tax calculated on the vehicle.
No, as of 2005 Nevada does not tax private-party vehicle sales, but only if the buyer is a legal resident of the state.
If you buy a used car from a private party, you pay no sales tax, although you are legally supposed to report it. If you buy a used car from a dealer, you will pay sales tax.
When you go to transfer title from the seller to you, all taxes will be collected at that time. In my state the answer is yes, you will pay sales tax.
If you bought the car from a dealer you have 30 days if you bought it from a private party you have 7 days in georgia.
If you have the title it is your car, just take it.
Yes, in Michigan you will pay sales tax on everything purchased, private or not, except food and water.
No ... there is no sales tax on private person to person sales on used cars. Buying from a dealer may be a different story.
NO. But you will pay sales tax when you tag and transfer title. Based on the value of car... not the actual sales price
