No that is the same internet input that is on the PS3 and not an output to provide the internet to other devices. Just how does your PC get the internet. Mine got it from an ethernet cable that ran from my Comcast cable modem to the PC. Some people have wireless for the PC and you can use that same wireless for the PS3. All the ads showing features for the PS3 state Online connectivity requires broadband internet service and network devices such as a DSL or cable modem. Most people who have this also require a router and an ethernet cable or a wireless router to allow connection of more than one device to there internet service. The ethernet cable plugs into the back of the PS3 and goes into a router or a modem and provides a stronger more constant signal for PS3 online connections and is called a wired connection rather than WiFi.

Would it work if you connected an Ethernet cable to a modem and then to a ps3 to play on line?

If for instance you have a PC connected to the internet with an ethernet cable at a cable modem you can unplug the ethernet cable to the PC at the modem and Plug in a ethernet cable from the PS3 to the modem and a connection to the internet is possible. If the PC and PS3 are close enough you can just unplug the PC ethernet cable at the PC and move it over to the PS3. The first time you do this you need to go to the PS3 network setting and auto set the network settings. When you are done using the PlayStation 3 you just unplug the ethernet cable for the PS3 from the modem and plug the PC cable back into the modem for the PC to go back online or switch the cable back if it was close enough. When you get tired of doing this just purchase a router and plug the PS3 and PC into the router and plug the router into the modem.

How do you hook up Ethernet cable to ps3?

You do not connect the PS3 ethernet cable to the computer. Just as you connect an ethernet cable to your PS3 to allow it to go online your computer may also have a spot to connect the ethernet cable to allow it to go online. The way the completed system will be set up is that ethernet cables are connected to a router for both the computer and the PS3 and the router is connected to the modem to allow online access to both your computer and the PS3. If you do not have a router you will need to purchase one and until then if you have a computer with online access the computer could be connected directly to the modem which you can unplug and plug in the PS3 to the modem with an ethernet cable. Then you go to network setting on the PS3 and complete the internet connection. In order to use your computer again online you need to unplug the PS3 and Plug the computer back in.

Where do you plug in a internet cable for the playstation 3?

In the ethernet port in the back of the ps3. You need an "ethernet cord" though. Not internet cord.

How do you connect a wireless router to the back of your ps3?

A PS3 has WiFi and you can put the router next to your modem. The only thing the back of a PS3 uses for the internet is for a wired connection with an ethernet cable to your router or modem instead of a WiFi connection

Can you connect your PS3 Ethernet cable to a phone jack?

No, while an ethernet cable plug looks like a phone jack cable plug it is actually larger. The PS3 can not be connected to the internet with dial up internet service and an ethernet cable is meant to be connected to a modem or router.

How can you get internet on your ps3 if you only have one Ethernet cable?

Buy another cable they are cheap. You can always plug in the PS3 and unplug whatever was and switch back and forth like you would if you needed to purchase a router. That does work better if you at least have two ethernet cables and only need to switch at the modem between PS3 cable and Computer cable unplugging the device you are not using and then plug in the one you want too.

Can you get online for the PS3 with just cable?

If you want to know if you need WiFi to get online then no you don't. You can connect an ethernet cable from your cable modem or from a router to the ethernet port in the back of a PS3

How do you perform wired connection on PS3?

Purchase an ethernet cable (I prefer a cat 6 but cat 5 will work). Next you need an internet connection and it has a monthly fee.. If you have a computer hooked up to the internet you have an internet connection. Plug the ethernet cable into the back of the PS3 and run the ethernet cable to your cable modem. Unplug your computer and plug in the PS3. If you want to keep both always wired then you need to purchase a router. Then you plug the modem into the router's in spot and both the PS3 and Computer into the router. If you only have dial up for your computer I have no Ideal if a connector is possible.
