No. On the Vauxhall Astra 1.4 engine the water. pump is driven by the cam belt. In fact the cam belt is adjusted by twisting the pump body and tightening the three retaining nuts.

First jack up the car and remove the splash guard. It will have 8 bolts (5.5MM) and 2 bolts (8 MM). Drain radiator, its a plastic plug on right side. Remove battery cable, remove alternator cables, remove overflow bottle, remove serpentine belt, remove alternator mount, remove alternator, remove water pump pulley, remove tensioner wheel, remove support brace on lower right corner of water pump, and remove the 12 bolts that hold the water pump. Boom, its out.

No you dont need to remove the power steering pump to get at the bolts. if you go directly down from the very bottom of the pully on the power steering pump the bolt holding the top of the alternator should be right there. all you have to do is remove it and the alternator should come out.

Its a tricky one. You have to unscrew the water pump in order to move it out of the way to get to one of the screws on the Alternator.
Get the correct water pump and clutch for your car. Loosen the alternator and remove the fan. Remove the bracelets, hoses and the retaining bolts. Remove the water pump and replace it with the new one.
