If an adult becomes unresponsive while choking: # Unresponsive is assumed meaning unconscious # Call 911 or local emergency number (have someone else call if available) # Tip head & check for signs of life # If no signs of life, give 2 breaths # If breaths do not go in, reposition head further back # If breaths still do not go in give 30 compressions # Look for object in mouth; if object seen sweep out # Give 2 breaths # If breaths do not go in, give 30 compressions # Look for object in mouth; if object seen sweep out # Give 2 breaths # Repeat sequence compressions, look & sweep if object seen, breaths until breaths go in # When breaths go in check for signs of life for 10 seconds maximum # Give CPR if no signs of life (30 compressions, 2 breaths)
How do you give the breaths properly?
30 compressions at a rate of 100 compressions per minute. Then give 2 mouth-to-mouth breaths and repeat. Continue until help arrives.
Airways-- Tilt the victim's head back to open the airways. Breathing-- Give two rescue breaths using mouth-to-mouth. Circulation-- After giving them two rescue breaths, check the pulse to see if their heart is still beating.
You can deliver a breath via the mouth, nose, or both together.

For infant CPR, give cycles of 15 compressions to 2 breaths; rate of compressions are at least 100 per minute.
It depends, if you pump their chest it gets their heart beating, whereas mouth to mouth helps them to breathe.----If the person has had heart failure, then you should do both--the current Red Cross guidelines are thirty chest pumps to two rescue breaths. If the person's heart has stopped, then they aren't going to be breathing, but if you can feel a heartbeat and they aren't breathing, then you should give mouth-to-mouth.
The two preferred methods to administer mouth-to-mouth are the head-tilt/chin lift method and the jaw thrust method. A third method called the head-tilt/neck-lift is not recommended any longer because of the potential for spinal cord injuries.
True
First, you lie the person down on a safe surface. Tilt their head back. Go through ABC ( airway-tilting the head back , Breathing-put your ear over their mouth to hear if they are breathing, Circulation- check their pulse.) If they are not breathing, skip the pulse and go straight to mouth to mouth. Check if they are breathing for two seconds, then give them two breaths. Make sure to breath in and out as you give them the breaths. Then, start CPR pumping. I can't really explain how to align your hands over the internet though, sorry. After pumping 30 times, check if they are breathing. Give them another 2 breaths and keep going until they start breathing or the ambulance arrives. :)
